The Museum is open free to the public, with members operating trains in multiple scales on our layouts and displays on railroading.
Regular Hours:
We are open regularly for open houses on Saturdays, 1:00 - 4:00 pm. We hope soon to be able to offer some public workshops on the basics of trackwork, layout design, scenery and structures at other times; these will be listed under “Museum Events” as they become scheduled.
Extended Hours:
The museum opens outside of regular hours for various events and times of year, such as during the winter holiday season. Currently, we are open for “First Fridays” and “Last Tuesdays” events. Details can be found in the “Museum Events” and “Community Events” sections.

In addition to our normal hours of operation for Open Houses, the Museum hosts events centered on presentations on railroad history, workshops on all aspects of model railroading, opportunities for the public to bring in their own trains to run on our layouts, and assistance with maintaining and repairing their own trains. Such events will be listed below.
In addition, we have opened by request outside of Open House times for school (and other) groups. As such special events are scheduled, they will also appear here.Last Tuesdays:
We are excited to invite members of the public to run their trains on our layouts on the last Tuesday of each month from 6 pm - 8 pm. Our layouts can accommodate G, O, On30, HO, or N scale trains. DCC is currently available only on the HO scale layout.

The Museum periodically participates in community organized events such as First Fridays, Waynesboro Fall Foliage Festival, and the Halloween Trick or Treat. Details can be found below.
Waynesboro First Fridays:We currently are participating in the First Fridays event coordinated by the City of Waynesboro. On the first Friday of each month, the museum will be open 5 pm - 8 pm.

2026 Train Show
The Augusta County Railroad Museum is pleased to announce that it is sponsoring the 2026 Train Show at the Augusta Expo Event Center in Fishersville, Virgina Sunday, May 3rd 2026. The show is open 10:00 a.m.- 04:00 p.m. Various portable model train layouts will operate for public viewing. Vendors will sell railroad and model train related items. Our ACRM staff will be on-hand to answer railroad and modeling questions. Food is available for purchase.
Admission is $10.00 for adults, children under 12 years old free with an adult. Parking is free.

VENDORS:
In keeping with the museum's mission of promoting an interest in railroading and model railroading, we have priced our train show tables affordably so that licensed vendors and non-licensed individuals wishing to sell railroading and model railroading items have that opportunity.
Individuals interested in attending as a vendor should review the vendor flyer and either return with payment (cash or check) via USPS to ACRRM, P.O. Box 806, Waynesboro, VA, 22980 or email it to trainshow.acrm@gmail.com.
